Development Director

Opening: Full time, salaried, some evenings and weekends required.

Organizational Relationships: Reports to Executive Director; supervised Development Associate and Grant Writer.

Position Purpose:
The Development office is established to serve the agency's programs by generating sufficient financial resources and community involvement to support those programs and Community Outreach's mission.  The Development Officer provides leadership in developing and maintaining close relationships with the philanthropic community, individual and corporate donors, sponsors and board members
through various channels, including direct communications with funding sources (donors, grantors, etc.), newsletters, mailings and events related to marketing and fundraising.

Responsibilities and Duties performed personally or through subordinated employees:

  • In coordination with the Executive Director and the Board, build and sustain relationships with current, new and potential
    grant-giving organizations and individuals.

  • Present, inform and motivate individuals and groups about the agency's mission and philanthropy, including making presentations to community organizations and leading facility tours.

  • Develop, market and implement a planned giving program to ensure the agency's long-term financial health.

  • Develop, or oversee development of, written communications and public relations materials (media relations, press releases, arranging interviews, newsletters, brochures, proposals to donors, appeal letters, etc.).

  • Manage Development office activities, including proper record-keeping, maintenance of a development calendar, fulfillment of grant application requirements and reporting deadlines.

    Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree required, major in Communications, Public Relations, Liberal Arts preferred.  We require fours years experience in public relations, writing or sales.  Excellent presentation and communications (written and oral) skills.  Must be able to use word processing, email and database software.

    Salary Range: $38,000 to $44,000 per year, including benefits (medical, dental and vision insurance).

Social Service Assistant

Full-time, part-time and on call positions available; day, swing, and graveyard shifts. Eligible for shift differential on overnight shifts.

Starting wage: $9.00 per hour; $11.00 per hour for overnight shift

Position Purpose: Provide crisis intervention, information, and referral functions. Provide supervision of shelters assuring client compliance with agency rules and policies. Act as agency receptionist, answering phones, greeting visitors, assisting with medical clinic clients.

Key Responsibilities:

-Answer telephones in a professional manner, taking messages and routing business calls as appropriate.
-Provide appropriate responses and recording of child abuse reports.
-Respond to requests for emergency food, showers, phone use, messages, mail service, and other emergency services.
-Maintain statistics records accurately.
-Assist with monthly program reports as assigned.
-Screen clients for shelter and HES services and conduct required intakes.
-Follow agency procedures in daily opening and closing of the shelters, and ensure that client chores and activities are completed.
-Supervise use of the community kitchen, bathroom, and shelters.
-Document pertinent information in client files and Pass Down Log (PDL).
-Provide case managers and counselors with relevant information regarding their clients.
-Conduct UAs and breathalyzer readings on clients when necessary.
-Attend weekly Social Service Assistant meetings.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  High School diploma or equivalent with some post-secondary education in social service field and/or relevant experience working in social services.
