At Community Outreach, we help families begin to repair their lives. Our family shelter is designed to meet two basic goals: to provide a safety net—shelter and basic needs—to homeless families as a first step in getting off of the streets, and to provide concentrated, temporary assistance to help families make a permanent transition from homelessness to stability. The Transitional Housing Program is the next step in a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of homeless families.

Who does this program serve?
Families must be homeless; head or household must be at least age 18 or emancipated; meet Income Eligibility Guidelines (150% FPL or less). Clients must not be intoxicated, abusive or violent.
What is shelter like?
A semi-modular configuration that can provide a maximum of 11 units, with sleeping space for up to six people per unit, and private bathrooms. Connecting doors can be opened between adjoining bedroom units to provide space for large families. The design respects each family's need to be together while they stabilize and rebuild their lives.
Cooking and dining areas are community focused. The design allows for each family to prepare meals in their own kitchen area, yet the area is open to other family kitchens, encouraging social interaction.
The Family Community Room provides areas for quieter moments allowing parents and older children to study, read, socialize or just find some peace. The Children's Playroom is adjacent to the Family Community Room, and is fully visible through a glass wall separating the two.
How long may people stay?
Families may stay up to 90 days. Length of stay is determined by the Case Manager.
Is there a cost?
Yes. After three free nights (emergency stay), families must pay $5 per night.
